Stop Being a man of YOUR Word.

“Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.”-Hebrews 10:23 NLT

As humans living in a world subject to brokenness and disappointment, we have all failed. We have made promises that cannot be kept. 

My friend Raegan recently had a situation come to light, where she had made a promise to harbor unforgiveness if someone betrayed her. When she was in fact betrayed, she was quick to action to show unforgiveness. She became resentful and angry and tried to justify her actions by saying she could not break her promise. She allowed this unforgiveness and pride to consume her for many months, until she finally understood that her own words were only failing her.

Pslams 119:160 tells us that, “The very essence of your words is truth; all your just regulations will stand forever.” (YouVersion Bible NLT) 

Scripture tells us that our flesh fails us, but His word is true. It is time to put down the promises we have made that lead ourselves, and others, away from the Word of God. Now is the time to turn away from pride, and stand in humility, whether it causes embarrassment or not to ourselves and what we have claimed to be the truth. Our words will always fail us, but His word never will. 

• Take action today, to lead your family in the word of the Lord and come under the justice of God.

• Repent of the words you have spoken that come against God, and realign yourself to His word. It’s time to put our pride to shame!

• Ask the Lord to soften your heart to experience His unfailing promises in this life. And speak those out to yourself, the people you love, and the people you have hurt.
